We’ve got some great tips for you today if you own one of our homes with a linear fireplace. Here’s a full demonstration of how everything works.
We’re back once again to talk about one of the great features in our homes: our linear fireplaces. We’ve got some tips and techniques for you to help keep things warm and safe in your home.
With all of our brand-new fireplaces, we recommend a six- to eight-hour burn off period. After that, you'll want to disassemble the fireplace and clean the outer glass cover. To open the fireplace, you just lift up on the screen. There are tabs on each side that you can pull on to get the screen off. After the screen is off, you’ll want to unscrew the four pins in the frame of the fireplace and take that out.
After the frame is out, you can clean that sooty glass. We recommend setting an old towel down underneath the frame and using an ammonia-free glass cleaner. If there is any soot buildup that you weren’t able to remove right away, a glass-top cooking cleaner works really well.
Once the glass is clean, you simply lower it into the frame. Once it’s secure and sealed, pull those spring-loaded latches back. Then you can put the frame back in and re-insert the screws you took out earlier. You’ll notice that on the outside of the frame, there’s a battery pack velcroed underneath. In case of a power outage, you can use the batteries to ignite the fireplace. If the power is on, however, it’s a good idea to remove the batteries.

Finally, all you have to do is slide the glass cover back on the fireplace and flip the switch on the wall. You might see a bit of condensation, but it should go away in a few minutes.
The gas shutoff for this unit isn’t located on the fireplace itself. It’s actually located downstairs in the utility room. It should be labeled “fireplace.” If the valve is straight up and down, it’s on. If you want to shut it off, simply turn the valve 90 degrees.
